Take into account the gain factor: 2-3 dB for the city, 5-7 dB for the highway. Higher does not mean better, it will overload in the city. And also look at the wave resistance: it must match the radio station, otherwise signal loss is inevitable.
Useful tips
- For better reception, mount the car antenna on the roof or trunk. Place the external receiver away from other antennas and metal objects.
- Keep the coaxial cable separate from other power cables and devices that cause interference. Do not bend at an acute angle, otherwise you will damage the core.
- Connect the SWR meter between the walkie-talkie and the car antenna. Change the length of the pin or the setting position and make sure that the coefficient is no higher than 1.5. A high SWR can burn out the output stage of the walkie-talkie.
