When buying, focus on two key criteria:

1. Gain (measured in dBi). For a distance of up to 15 km, an inexpensive 10-15 dBi TV antenna is sufficient, no amplifier is needed. For 15-35 km, take a model with 15-25 dBi, and in the presence of obstacles (hills, forests) - with an amplifier. For 35-50 km, you will need a directional outdoor antenna with 30+ dBi gain and an active amplifier. For 50-80 km, choose models with 15-20 elements.

2. Operating range (DMV). The outdoor antenna must confidently receive decimeter waves from 470 to 862 MHz, since the DVB-T2 digital signal is broadcast on them. If there are still meter channels in your region (MV, 48-230 MHz), take a device with support for both bands.

The wave resistance should be 75 ohms, which is the standard for all TVs.

Installation and operation of outdoor TV antennas

Install the device as high as possible and away from metal obstacles (gutters, roofs, and neighbors' antennas). Aim strictly at the TV tower.

For long-range reception, use a reflective grid with active elements. It amplifies the signal and cuts out interference. In windy areas, use a sturdy mast mount. The matching device will help to adjust the antenna to the cable and tuner, minimizing losses.

And order a high-quality 75 ohm coaxial cable with double shielding. The longer it is, the thicker the central core should be (0.8-1 mm) and the denser the screen.

Also remember: lightning protection and grounding are required, otherwise a direct lightning strike can destroy the TV.
