Neon lamps are gas-discharge light sources filled with neon and other inert gases (helium, argon, krypton, mercury) under low pressure.
Such lamps provide a glow of orange-red, blue, lilac, bright blue and bluish-green.
The light of neon lamps has a low inertia, while brightness modulation is allowed with a maximum frequency of 20 kHz. Such lamps must be connected to power sources using a current-limiting resistor. Lamps typically start at 100 volts and extinguish at 40-65 volts. The service life of neon lamps is 80 thousand hours.
