IDC connectors are products with insulation displacement of connected wires. These connectors have mounting slotted dovetail contacts. During installation, the wire insulation is cut through with contacts that cut into the core.
Connectors of the IDC type have special keys, thanks to which they are mounted on flat cables (loop cables). Mounting slotted contacts are arranged in two rows in a checkerboard pattern. The contact part of the products has a pitch of 2.54 mm and, therefore, the mounted cables must have a pitch between the conductors of 1.27 mm.
There are 3 modifications of IDC:
- nests ("mom");
- forks ("dad");
- with side latches (mounted on a cable, then the leads are soldered into the board).
