Stepper motors are synchronous brushless electric motors with several windings, in which current is supplied to one of the stator windings, after which the rotor is fixed. Due to the sequential activation of the motor windings, a discrete angular movement (step) of the rotor occurs.
Stepper motors are controlled by special electronic circuits, and they are powered by direct current sources.
With the help of stepper motors, the speed is controlled without using expensive feedback loops.
Types of stepper motors:
- Synchronous and asynchronous;
- unipolar and bipolar;
- inductor (hybrid) and linear;
- active and reactive.
