Thermal paste is used to improve heat transfer between the heating component and the radiator of the cooling system. It fills the micro-holes on the contact surfaces, reduces thermal resistance and helps to more efficiently remove heat from processors, video chips, power transistors, LEDs, power modules and other electronics.

The main parameter of thermal paste is the coefficient of thermal conductivity, which is measured in W/m *K. The higher this value, the more efficiently the material transfers the heat of the heating component.

Viscosity and resistance to extrusion

Viscosity affects the ease of application, layer thickness, and stability when heated. Too thick a paste is more difficult to distribute evenly, and too liquid can be squeezed out of the contact area faster.

For powerful laptops, graphics cards, and components with frequent temperature fluctuations, it is better to order high-viscosity thermal pastes. They better resist the pump-out effect, when the material is gradually squeezed out from under the radiator due to cyclic expansion and compression of the surfaces.

Composition

Inexpensive silicone heat-conducting pastes are suitable for basic maintenance of electronics, low-power components, and standard cooling tasks.

Ceramic compositions contain fillers based on zinc oxide, aluminum oxide, boron nitride and other thermally conductive materials. The paste is available in syringes, tubes and cans. Syringes and tubes are convenient for precise dosing when servicing processors, video chips, laptops, and small electronic modules.
