Thermoelectric modules or Peltier modules refer to thermoelectric converters , the principle of which is based on the so-called. Peltier effect - when current flows through a plate consisting of two adjacent semiconductors, one side of the plate heats up, and the other side cools. This effect is also known as the "reverse thermocouple effect". In this case, the temperature difference on both sides of the plate is the same. For this reason, the Peltier module can be called "termonasosom" as is actually happening is "pumping" heat from one side to the other module. That is, the Peltier module performs the function of an "active" radiator , removing heat from an object with the "cold" side and dissipating it with the "hot" side.
It is important to understand that the generated heat must be removed somewhere, and not only the heat generated by the cooled object, but also the heat generated on the "hot" side of the module during its operation. Thus, the use of the Peltier module in electronic equipment is justified only in conjunction with the use of a blower fan , which will dissipate hot air. In terms of efficiency, cooling with a Peltier module can be compared to water cooling . The most famous domestic manufacturer of Peltier modules is the Kryotherm plant.
