Twisted pair cables are a type of communication cable. They are pairs of twisted insulated conductors that are covered with a plastic sheath.
Conductors are twisted to increase the degree of connection between the conductors of one pair, to reduce electromagnetic interference from external sources and mutual interference during the transmission of differential signals.
Twisted pair is used in telecommunications and in computer networks for the transmission of various signals. Due to their low cost and ease of installation, twisted pairs are the most common solution for building wired LANs.
