Alligator clips are universal clips for measuring, industrial and educational purposes, providing a reliable temporary connection of a cable to a terminal or reference point by compressing spring grips. They can have a single insulating heat-shrinkable body or separate insulating handles on the back of the grips. Permanent connection to the cord, depending on the model of the crocodile, is made by soldering, crimping or screw terminal. The contact surface of the crocodile can be end or side. The color marking of power alligator clips is two-color, for the positive wire - red, for the negative wire - black.
Signal alligator clips are available in various colors to enable marking of several signal lines. Power alligators for high voltage lines are insulated over the entire surface of the spring grips, and not just on the handles. Crocodiles for low-voltage circuits and for mechanical fixation of components sometimes do not have insulators at all.
