High-voltage diodes are fast-recovering power semiconductor devices that are designed for use with high dynamic loads. Because of this, low conduction losses are higher than rectifier diodes, so they are used to convert DC to AC.
To create a reactive power return path, each converter switch must be equipped with an additional powerful diode, which is precisely the high-voltage power diode.
