Diode bridges are electrical circuits that convert alternating current into pulsating current (full-wave rectification).
Such devices are based on the Graetz bridge circuit. Due to the fact that semiconductor components are relatively inexpensive, the bridge circuit is used quite widely.
The principle of operation is as follows: an alternating voltage is applied to the input of the bridge circuit. In each half-cycle, an electric current passes through two diodes, while the other two are locked. As a result, a pulsating voltage is obtained at the output, the frequency of which is twice that of the supply voltage.
