The driver converts the 220 V mains voltage to safe parameters for the operation of LED lights. This stabilized power supply:

Types of drivers for LED strips and fixtures
- With constant voltage (12 V, 24 V, 48 V). This is a standard solution for LED strips. They provide stable voltage along the entire length of the line. The latter is critical for flexible tapes where the LEDs are connected in parallel. Different models have an output power from 10 to 400 watts.
- With direct current (350 mA, 700 mA, 1050 mA). It is the choice for high-power LEDs and LED ceiling lights. They guarantee a stable current, which prevents overheating, and also ensures the same brightness and color of each diode. To fine-tune and prevent overloading, it is recommended to buy a driver with current control.
Modern models are often equipped with interfaces for control via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and smart home systems. Additional features also include dimming support (PWM, 0-10 V, Triac), power factor correction (PFC), and overload protection.
How to choose a driver for an LED lamp
When ordering, be guided by several key criteria.
- The voltage of the driver must exactly match the voltage of the LED device, and its maximum current must be at least the load current.
- A power reserve of at least 20-30% is required. This prevents the driver from overheating.
- For outdoor use or rooms with high humidity, a protection class of at least IP65 is required, as well as an extended temperature range.
- Buy a driver with support for the dimming protocol (0-10 V, PWM, Triac) that your switch or control system uses.
Common problems due to incorrect selection: mismatch of the output voltage and current to the LED parameters, lack of power reserve, incorrect IP class. Another mistake is installation in unventilated niches.
