Radiators
1354Radiator - this is usually called a device designed to dissipate heat into the environment. One of the side effects caused by the miniaturization of electronic equipment was a decrease in internal volume and, as a result, overheating of electronic components. To some extent, the use of radiators will help to neutralize this problem. Due to its large surface area, the heatsink dissipates heat into the air and lowers the intrinsic temperature of the electronic component or module.
The greatest efficiency of the radiator is achieved when using convection , i.e. the transfer of heat dissipated by the radiator is carried out by the movement of air. Convection can be natural (the radiator is located on the outside of the case) and forced (heat transfer inside the case is carried out using an exhaust or intake fan). In addition, there are products in which the radiator is structurally combined with a fan. Such products are called cooler . It should also be borne in mind that often domestic radiators used in power electronics have a different name - cooler .
There are two main types of radiators - ribbed (an increase in the dispersion area is achieved due to longitudinal or transverse ribs) and needle-shaped (a sufficient dispersion area is created by a variety of “needles” of different length and height). Fins and needles can be located both on one side of the radiator ( one-sided radiators ), and on both sides - double-sided radiators .
