Laboratory power supplies are stabilized adjustable power supplies that ensure high accuracy of the output signal when changing load parameters and supply voltage over a wide range.

According to the schematic design, laboratory power supplies are divided into linear and pulsed. The circuit of a linear source consists of a powerful mains transformer, a rectifier and a stabilizer. Such power supplies are characterized by a minimum level of noise, create minimal interference in power supply networks, but have large weight and dimensions, low efficiency.

Switching laboratory power supplies first rectify the mains voltage at the input, then convert it to a high-frequency alternating voltage, then rectify and stabilize it again. This scheme allows you to reduce the size and weight of the power transformer and, accordingly, the unit itself, increase efficiency, but creates electromagnetic interference in the power supply circuits.
