Resistors belong to the class of passive components, and play the role of resistance to electric current.
Resistors are divided by characteristics and types, as well as by manufacturing technology: constant, variable or trimmer, output or SMD (for surface mounting), wire, carbon or metal oxide.

The selection of a fixed resistor must be made according to the following characteristics: type, power, unit of resistance and deviation from the nominal value, as a percentage. These include output resistors and surface-mount resistors, which are especially in demand for the manufacture and repair of microelectronics.

Variable resistorsperforming various adjustments in electronic circuits are divided into single and multi-turn (precision). It is multi-turn resistors with a linear characteristic from the manufacturer BOURNS , series 3590S, 3540S, 3543S, 3545S , which have high wear resistance due to a polymer-coated wire element, and a large angle of rotation of the engine. These components are used in electronic instruments for setting high precision parameters.

Trimmer resistors with ceramic-metal type of conductor from manufacturers Bourns, Murata, Rikor Electronics have high performance, make fine adjustments in the process of setting up equipment, and have proven themselves in electrical circuits of direct and alternating current.

One of the features of compact mounting on a printed circuit board is the use of microassemblies (matrices) of ceramic chip resistors. These components are applicable in portable devices and microelectronic devices. The unit of resistance measurement for each element of the assembly is indicated on the matrix body.
