Sensors

Sensors are a group of autonomous, finished products designed to convert the collected (measured) information into an electrical quantity for subsequent transmission to measuring or actuating devices. A feature of the use of sensors is their placement directly in the place of information selection, which imposes certain requirements on the design, especially when used in aggressive environmental conditions, as well as mutually agreed metrological and reliability characteristics.

Sensors are classified as follows:

• magnetic field , or Hall sensors. Designed to determine the change in the magnetic field.
• optical , or open channel optocouplers . They react to a change in the illumination of the sensitive element, which is usually used as a photodiode or photoresistor.
• position (distance). They react to a change in their position relative to any objects, or the position of objects relative to themselves. May include a variety of sensing elements. For example, inductive, capacitive, optical, or even mechanical.
• temperature . A thermocouple is usually used as a sensitive element. Used to measure temperature.
• current . Serve for non-contact determination of the magnitude of the current in the circuit.
• angle ( encoders ). React to the amount of rotation about the axis. Can be used as a control element in remote control.
• efforts ( load cells ). They respond to the force applied to the sensor. Often used in weighing equipment.
• acceleration ( accelerometers ). React to the absolute value of the acceleration of the object in which the sensor is installed. Used in equipment to determine the position of an object in space.
• humidity . Allow to determine the absolute or relative humidity of the environment surrounding the sensor.
• gas . They are used to measure pressure, flow rate, concentration of certain substances in the environment.

The main sensor manufacturers are Honeywell, Autonics, Analog Device, Silicon Logic, Burns, Heraeus .
