Aqara TVOC - air quality monitor

The quality of the air we breathe is one of the important factors affecting our health. We spend most of our time indoors, so it's important to ensure good air quality at home and at work. At present, given the spread of coronavirus infection, this issue is more important than ever.

One type of air pollution is VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). The term VOC does not refer to any specific substance, but covers a whole class of substances (there are thousands of such substances) that have similar chemical properties, which are particularly dangerous because they are harmful to health, have carcinogenic properties and are subject to evaporation under normal atmospheric conditions.

To monitor indoor air quality, Aqara has launched a new sensor for tracking total volatile organic compounds - TVOC . The screen of the device is always active and assembled using E-ink (electronic ink) technology, due to which it is safe for the eyes. More than 1 year on one set of batteries. The device can be attached to a sticker, placed horizontally or mounted on a metal surface with a built-in magnet. Works on the ZigBee 3.0 protocol.

The sensor detects not only the presence of VOCs in the air, but also the temperature and humidity in the room. By combining it with the Aqara ecosystem, the data can be used for automation with ventilation, humidification, air conditioning and heating systems. And also send notifications to your smartphone.
