Solid state relays are a semiconductor device, the main purpose of which is to switch circuits of both direct and alternating current. The scope of use of such relays is quite wide. These include control systems for motors, electromagnets, lighting, heating, transformers and many other technical means.
Three-phase relays allow you to switch current in three phases at once, which is a great advantage when switching three-phase loads than using several single-phase relays.
Three-phase reversing solid state relays differ from three-phase solid state relays in a number of ways. Their main task does not differ from single-phase and three-phase relays, however, the nature of its implementation has its own characteristics.
So, a special RC circuit is built into the three-phase reversing relay, which provides protection against false switching. This quality is especially important when operating on an inductive load. Also, the capabilities of these devices make it possible to use them when starting and controlling asynchronous motors by reversing them (changing the direction of rotation of the motor). However, for this it is necessary to comply with certain conditions, in particular, take into account the starting currents of each motor. If there is a threat of short-term overvoltage of the relay, then in order to protect the device, it is necessary to use varistors. High-speed fuses act as protection against possible voltage overloads.
Changing the direction of rotation of the electric motor is carried out by switching the control voltage at the control terminals. In this case, it should be borne in mind that there is no blocking inside the relay from the simultaneous supply of a signal to turn on the engine in the forward and reverse direction. So such a lock must be provided by hardware using the control buttons, or by software (in the case of control from the controller).
