AC/DC modules for the IRM-05 series printed circuit board from MEAN WELL
The AC power supply network is one of the most common types of power supply for devices and devices for various purposes. Therefore, the most common type of electric power converters is AC/DC – from alternating current to direct current. One of the most popular types of AC/DC converters are small-sized modules installed on the printed circuit board of the end device or device.
The IRM-05 series converters are AC/DC converters in the form of a separate module for installation on a printed circuit board. The housing of the IRM modules is made of non-flammable plastic, and has a full silicone filling to improve heat dissipation, which also provides anti-vibration protection and reliable protection from dust and moisture. IRM-05 modules are an effective solution for providing power to individual circuit nodes that require power supply independent of the main circuit, with galvanic isolation and miniature size. The modules have high reliability and low cost.
The appearance of the AC/DC module on the IRM-05 series printed circuit boardThe features of the IRM-05 series AC/DC converters are a small–sized housing, high energy density, a standard output voltage range of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24 VDC, an extended input voltage range of 85-305V (AC), a normalized output power of 5W. Also, as a distinctive feature, it is important to note the extended frequency range of the input voltage – 47...440 Hz, which allows them to be used not only in the industrial frequency network, but also in special applications. It is also worth noting the low self-consumption <0.1W, and compliance with the EMC requirements for class B without the use of additional components.
The modules of the IRM-05 series are built according to the topology of "hard switching" and have a relatively high heating temperature (at full load), therefore the manufacturer gives the following recommendations on the distance for placing the module on the printed circuit board: it is necessary to provide insulation at a distance of at least 5 mm in the lower part of the device (from the side of the module terminals). In addition, there must be a sufficient insulation distance (at least 10 mm) around each side of the IRM-05 module.
The overall dimensions of the modules on the printed circuit board and the purpose of the terminals of the IRM-05 series modules are shown in the figure:
Overall dimensions of the IRM-05 moduleThe modules on the IRM-05 series printed circuit board are general–purpose AC/DC converters, and can be used in any field of application - industrial equipment, electromechanical devices (machine tools), telecommunications equipment, control devices in industrial automation, instrumentation, security devices, wearable devices and others.
