Increased peak power output in MEAN WELL SDR series

For applications where the load has high inrush currents, it is important to choose the right power source with this feature in mind. The power supply selected according to the rated load capacity, as a rule, does not have time to start such a load and the power supply goes into protection. Therefore, for such cases, you have to use a power supply with a large power reserve, which is a suboptimal choice. The series of DIN rail power supplies with increased peak power (for a short period of time) are the SDR series.

SDR series power supplies are AC/DC converters with DIN rail mounting, with output voltage from the standard range – 12, 24, 48V DC, rated power 75, 120, 240, 480 and 960W. One of the distinctive features of these series is the increased output power – up to 130-150% of the nominal, for use with loads with pronounced inrush currents.

The appearance of SDR series power supplies

SDR series power supplies have a built-in Power Factor Corrector (PFC, except for the SDR-75 series), a built-in constant current limiting circuit with a current limiting level of 150-170% (depending on the series) for 2-3 seconds, the main types of protection: short circuit, overload, overvoltage, overheating. SDR series power supplies are designed for use with loads with pronounced inrush currents, as well as in systems requiring high performance and minimal losses – industrial machines and robots, industrial automation devices, diagnostic devices and laboratory devices, telecommunications equipment, and others.
