Developed by Signetics Corporation 30 years ago, the SE555/NE555 timer, which is referred to as the "Integrated Timer", is currently one of the most popular integrated circuits. After going on sale, the microcircuit gained great popularity among both electronics enthusiasts and professionals.

The microcircuit operates in a wide voltage range - from 5 to 15V. The product is produced mainly in a plastic DIP-case, although it was also produced in a round metal one. The timer operates in two modes: as a monostable multivibrator and as a pulse generator, i.e. microcircuit, can produce a sequence of rectangular pulses.
