Spectrum analyzers are instruments that can be used to observe and measure the relative energy distribution of electromagnetic waves in a frequency band. There are two forms of representation of signals - temporal and frequency. The time waveform can be observed using an oscilloscope, but the frequency waveform can be observed using the Analyzer.
