Optical devices - when performing various assembly, repair and other work, it often becomes necessary to increase the working surface using various optical devices - head magnifiers - one of the most common tools for a repairman, assembler, miniature equipment designer or modeler. It allows you to enlarge the image of the work surface, leaving the worker's hands free. The degree of magnification of head loupes is from 1.25 to 10 times. To improve visibility, some head lamps are equipped with built-in lamps or LED lights. Additionally, a binocular loupe can be equipped with a miniature single lens with a large magnification factor.

Shadowless magnifiers
are magnifying and lighting devices made in the form of table lamps and provide optimal work with workpieces that require uniform shadowless illumination due to the shape of the lamps and additional reflective surfaces of the illuminator. In most cases, illumination in these magnifiers is carried out by a ring or U-shaped fluorescent lamp, and the approach-removal of the magnifier relative to the working surface is performed using a sliding pantographic mechanism or a metallized flexible eyeliner. For the convenience of working with small-sized workpieces, a shadowless lamp can have a “third hand” device at the base, consisting of several “crocodile” clips fixed on movable rods.

Mounting magnifiers
are the simplest magnifying tools, consisting in most cases of a lens with a magnification factor of 1.5 to 10 times (in rare cases 20) and a handle. Some magnifiers may have a light source built into the handle, with an LED or lamp. Microscopes are powerful optical or electron-optical devices for monitoring the installation or repair of highly complex products, with the ability (for electronic versions) to record the repair progress on a medium, with subsequent playback. Electron microscopes can have a built-in monitor or be connected to a computer via a USB or analog video port.

Mounting mirrors
are an additional control tool for the repairman, allowing you to see the back side of the repaired unit. Many mounting mirrors have a telescopic handle to enable observation of parts of the device remote from the repairman. For ease of storage, mounting mirrors have a suspension clip, similar to the one on a fountain pen.
