Increased peak current in the N3 modification in the HRP‑150/300/600 series from MEAN WELL
For a number of applications where the load has large inrush currents, it is very important to choose the right power source with this feature in mind. The power supply selected according to the rated power of the load, as a rule, does not have time to start such a load and the power supply goes into protection. As an example of such a load, these are electric motors of various types. Therefore, for such cases it is necessary to use a power supply with a very large power reserve, which is a suboptimal choice. Therefore, for such applications, MEAN WELL has developed a special modification with increased peak power based on a series of high-reliability HRP power supplies.
The HRP series power supplies of the N3 modification are AC/DC converters in a housing design designed for embedding, with an output voltage of the standard series – 12, 24, 36, 48V DC, rated power of 150, 300 and 600W – HRP-150N3, HRP-300N3 and HRP-600N3 series. A distinctive feature of the N3 modification is the increased output power – up to 300-350% of the nominal for use with loads with large starting currents. HRP series power supplies of modification N3 have a built-in power Factor Corrector (Power Factor Corrector, PFC), a built-in output current limiting circuit (constant current limiting circuit) with a current limitation level of 330-380% (depending on the series) for 5 seconds, the main types of protection: short circuit, overload, overvoltage, overheating. The HRP-150N3 series power supplies are cooled by natural ventilation, and the HRP-300N3 and HRP-600N3 units use forced ventilation due to an integrated cooling fan with intelligent control. All HRP series power supplies of the N3 modification have a warranty period of 5 years.
