Rack Power - MEAN WELL solutions for powering server equipment in 19" racks

In industrial automation, telecommunications and data centers, in order to unify the placement, equipment is installed in 19" (19 inches) Rack racks. To date, the placement of equipment in the Rack system format has become almost standard. It is also customary to place the power supplies of the end equipment and servers, including uninterruptible power supply systems, in the racks of this form factor, directly near the end equipment. Responding to the demands of the industry, MEAN WELL is actively developing a series of power supplies for Rack systems, taking into account the high power consumption, ease of operation and management of such power supplies.

Power supplies of the RCP-1000 series are AC/DC converters in a case design designed for installation in a basket (chassis, cable) RCP-1U for installation in telecommunication racks of 19" format in the size of 1U (one unit). Each RCP-1000 power supply has an output power of 1 kW, within one RCP-1U basket, the maximum output power of a full power supply can be 3 kW. Parallel connection of RCP-1000 power supplies in RCP-1U baskets up to 8kW is allowed. The output voltage of the power supply based on the RCP-1000 can be 12, 24, 48V DC, which is also an industrial standard.

Power supplies of the RCP-1600 series are AC/DC converters in a case design designed for installation in the RHP-1U basket for installation in telecommunication racks of 19" format. Each RCP-1600 power supply has an output power of 1.6kW, within one RHP-1U basket, the maximum output power of the power supply can be 8kW. Parallel connection of RCP-1600 power supplies in RHP-1U baskets is also allowed. The output voltage of the power supply based on RCP-1600 can be 12, 24, 48V DC.

RCB-1600 series chargers are also designed to be installed in the RHP-1U basket. Each RCB-1600 charger has an output power of 1.6kW, within one RHP-1U basket, the maximum output power of the charger can be 8kW. The output voltage of the RCB-1600 charger is optimized for use with 12, 24, 48V batteries, that is, the maximum charge voltage is 14.4, 28.8, 57.6V, respectively.

Power supplies of the RCP-2000 series are AC/DC converters in a case design designed for installation in the RKP-1U basket for installation in telecommunication racks of 19" format. Each RCP-2000 power supply has an output power of 2 kW, within one basket of RKP-1U, the maximum output power of the power supply can be 6 kW. Parallel connection of RCP-2000 power supplies in RKP-1U baskets up to 18 kW is allowed. The output voltage of the power supply based on RCP-2000 can be 12, 24, 48V DC.

The key feature of power supplies for Rack systems is the support of "Hot Plug", that is, each power supply in the basket can be turned off and removed for replacement without disconnecting the entire power supply system in the rack. The second significant feature of MEAN WELL's Rack power systems is the presence of a built-in PMBus or I2C data exchange protocol, which allows you to create industrial and distributed power systems with specified control and management parameters. Also among the features can be noted the function of programming the output (PV), that is, setting the set value of the output voltage; built-in power factor corrector (PFC); high efficiency up to 92% depending on the model and a warranty period of 5 years.

Rack Power class power supplies have wide applications – industrial automation, distributed power supply systems, power supply of telecommunication and server equipment, continuous power supply systems, electric vehicle charging stations and others.
